When used as a "Warplane" it's primary purpose is to provide up to date battlefield and stratigic data. This saves soldiers lives and also the lives of civilians by providing immediate data on where the enemy is and thus allowing for precision strikes that avoid blowing up the wrong target.Without good intelligence from these aircraft, it's back to the days of "carpet bombing" and hoping you strike a target.
