It started more than a century ago as an agricultural school. So, yes, odds are they had slaves.!

My dad died last week, this made me feel better. His last wish was to be spread over the Catskill Mountains where he would be part of life once again. RIP Daddy.?
Too bad Verizon RAPES you for marginally better coverage. I was thinking about getting a Droid until I learned that an unlimited voice/text plan with 5GB of data transfer was going to be $150/mo... and when they enable tethering it will cost another $30/mo... and you have to pay extra for Exchange support... and you're stuck with a 2-year contract an a $350 early termination fee (which they will bill to you if you go over the 5GB limit more than twice for breach of contract). To hell with that. |

I don't believe this will put the insurance industry in a bad spot. The largest demographic of uninsured are young adults who don't buy insurance because they (stupidly? that's up for debate) don't believe they need coverage. This is also the overall lowest risk group. The insurance companies are now going to have millions of additional people paying premiums that are unlikely to make significant claims. Profits $$$. I don't know this for a fact, but it is an idea I've heard discussed. The only ones that know for sure are the insurance companies - they are the ones with all the data...

In addition to that chrono, 40 hour work weeks are the product of working "sunup to sundown", farmer's hours. Since computers do a large amount of work that people used to have to do by hand, it's not feasible to ask people to come in and sit around all day pretending to work.If more jobs were set at salary pay, and companies provided a bit more flexibility in hours and scheduling, and use deadlines as a means to get projects completed--then you would see a much better workplace. If projects don't get done on time, then the company can hire employees that know how to work and not screw around.I have somewhat flexible time at work (but because I often times work many more hours than just 8 per day) ; but it gives me more productivity. It makes me happier, enjoy my job more. I'm not beholden to come in for 12 hours, then 10 hours, then spend 8 hours on a Friday at work. I can maybe spend 5 or 6 on Friday because I worked an extra 6 hours the few days before that.
