Asking them to pay more taxes is socialism. Asking them to give up meat would be equated rightly with cultural genocide. Asking them to eat less meat is reasonable but will be met by staunch opposition by the aggro-lobby. Meat is very profitable in general while fruits and veggies are less so.It can be better for you as well to simply eat slightly less meat. I'd agree thats a pretty sensible suggestion for many reasons.
@GongdringYou have no problem with the requirement to have car insurance to drive, right? Because it protects us against loss do to uninsured motorist. Well eventually everyone needs medical attention. If you go to the hospital without insurance and skip out on the bill, the cost of MY care goes up. So in essence this requirement will help drive costs down. Sure, with car insurance you can just not drive. But with medical, you WILL get sick or injured and you WILL go to the hospital. We either tax the willingly uninsured to off set the costs of them using the facilities or we can deny access to the facilities, which would you prefer?

Gold is a fiat currency. Its just heavier and more impractical than most. Buying into it does nothing to benefit society. Its essentially cashing out and going home.If you're worried about your money, invest in a few infrastructure companies that aren't going to go anywhere anytime soon, and buy some good land. After all, if things get to the point where there's no government to back the currency, you can't eat gold, and bottlecaps make a much better unit of exchange.
