"So the free market will regulate itself? So the "invisible hand" will inherently guide business and corporations to do the right thing out of the kindness of their hearts?" -- No. The idea behind the free market is that, by acting in their own self-interests, businesses must also act in the interests of the consumers. Free market proponents believes that individuals are guided out of self-interest, not "the kindness of their hearts," and if you thought otherwise, then you don't understand the model you presume to criticize. The "invisible hand" of the market is guiding Walmart pretty strongly, in fact. In this case, Walmart is responding to pressure from consumers to keep prices as low as possible, which manifests itself in draconian policies toward its own employees. If consumers refused to shop at Walmart until working conditions were ameliorated (even if this meant higher prices) do you really think Walmart would refuse to change its policies? If Walmart's executives are treating their own employees unethically or illegally, then they should be punished. But if you're looking to find the underlying cause of the problem, you need look no further than the millions of consumers who pour billions of dollars into Walmart's coffers. The free market which you so malign is only a reflection of those consumers' desires and values: if consumers insist upon high-minded ethics from the businesses whose custom they frequent, then businesses will be pressured to respond accordingly; if consumers insist upon low prices at any cost, then expect businesses to cut ethical and legal corners. Not even the staunchest free market proponent would insist that the free market model is free from defects, because like any economic model, it is subject to the flaws of human nature. But this is true of a centralized economic model as well; there is nothing inherently special in the idea of government regulatory control which makes it immune from the twin human diseases of greed and apathy toward our fellow human beings.

and practically everybody does it right on the window. I don't know if you know this or not, but cum leaves streaks if you don't clean it right away..
Well, lets see .... has the amount of US dollars being pushed into circulation gone down, ..... nope they've gone up drastically. TARP anyone? Has overall credit in the US economy declined? Nope not at all. Has the amount of government spending percapita gone down,.... nope it's gone up drastically. Has the amount of government debt gone down per capita .... nope it's gone up drastically. Have the tax rates gone down, nope not at all. Has the amount of government interference in the private sector gone down ... nope, the government even owns GM for chrissake. Health care anyone? Cap and trade anyone? In fact, less than 1% of the people on capital hiss are talking about reducing spending and cutting back on the size of government. In sum. The USA is going to be in deep dodo for the forseeable future, which means the dollar is too. IMHO the question is not if the dollar is doomed, it is, the question is how much are other countries going to ruin their currencies to manage social policies and keep their exports competitive. Till things change, it might be wise to panic into gold and silver about now.!

I've been playing all morning, ***** Babylonians and their SDI ruined my plans of world domination.?
Must be different in the US because I lived in Canada for 18 years as a "white latino" and never felt as an outsider. Maybe it just doesn't affect me as much because my family is very small and not as integrated as in the Mexican community. |

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, however wrong it is. languages do evolve, even the language of the law. The current definition for these words is as I described above. If you choose to use these words in a way that is inconsistent with their actual definitions then that is certainly your right. I just think that people should be informed about their mistakes so that if they choose to make them they realize that they are making themselves seem to be uneducated. Your assertion that the actual legal definition of legal terms is amusing, but it's just your opinion. You said I'm getting worked up about a definition, well I'm not the one who started throwing around insults and getting all defensive and emotional. The words are different for a reason. It's because they mean different things, but if you prefer to display your ignorance proudly then by all means, knock yourself out.

It's a transport ship. Since we aren't currently at war with any countries that have a Navy, it wont really see any combat (not that it would be wise to send a ship that does not have any cannons into combat anyway).
