“Not sure if anyone else has had experiences like this with the anti-vax crowd, but I've got a couple relatives who truly believe that vaccinations caused autism in 2 of their 3 children. (The third is still a bit too young to tell, but was not vaccinated, and is starting to show signs of autism anyway.) They'll scream that it was the vaccines that did that to their children because that's the only explanation they want to believe. It's hard to just say it, but it needs to be said: it wasn't the vaccines; it was your ***** genetics. *I'm absolutely not promoting eugenics*, but when two people are extremely likely to give birth to children that will never be able to function without lots and lots of assistance their entire lives, and keep having kids, it's extremely selfish on their part. But hey, blame the scientists and the doctors...

Pharmaceutical oligarchs took this long to realize that untapped pet market? How much did they pay Discovery to run a story on 1 cat getting some kind of sickness? That is newsworthy? I think not. It should only be a matter of weeks now before hundreds of millions of more flu shots are mandated for pets. |

Indeed most large businesses won't pay for a sick day, but Wal-Mart sounds like it takes it a step further, into irrational territory.FTA: "It turns out Walmart has a punitive point system where workers receive a demerit if they take a sick day,"So it's not just about being unpaid. They're receiving additional punishment on top of that.And the problem with this isn't just about the worker themselves: if Wal-Mart is encouraging sick people to work by penalizing them if they don't, they're exposing people who go to Wal-Mart to whatever ailment the person has, which spreads the disease if it is contagious.

Umm...you guys are trusting MEMRI?I speak Arabic, and for an organization whose sole goal is to translate stuff like this, they do a real crappy job.For instance, the guy who says "unless he carries a rod on his shoulder" actually says "unless he carries a [small] stick on his shoulder".The rationale behind this is yes, a man is allowed to beat his wife only symbolically. That is to say, a man isn't allowed to use a stick larger than a tooth brush and he can't bend his elbow. Good luck beating someone with that. This is all just propaganda.The other guys talking about wife-beating are talking out of their asses and it's not sanctioned anywhere in Islam to use force more than the symbolic, laughable gesture as mentioned above.Also, let's not act like domestic violence is an Islamic phenomenon. I applaud the women though in the clip who are standing up to the chauvinist pigs. |
